Oscillator Tunes From 5685 To 5780 MHz

April 30, 2013
This tunable, low-noise oscillator supports numerous communications applications through 5780 MHz.

For tuning from 5685 to 5780 MHz, model CVCO55CXT-5685-5780 from Crystek is a coaxial resonator oscillator (CRO) that employs a coaxial voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) and proprietary internal frequency doubler for improved spectral purity and low current consumption. The tunable oscillator, which is usable at temperatures from -40 to +85°C, draws 25 mA current or less from a +5-VDC supply. The source tunes across its frequency range with voltages from +0.3 to +4.7 VDC. It achieves phase noise of -102 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from any carrier in its range with typical 0-dBm output power in to a 50-Ω load. Model CVCO55CXT-5685-5780 minimizes frequency pushing and pulling to 1.5 MHz/V and 0.5 MHz, respectively, while holding second harmonics to typically -30 dBc. The compact CRO is supplied in an industry-standard 0.5 x 0.5 in. package. It is suitable for applications in digital radio equipment, fixed wireless access, satellite communications systems, and cellular base stations.
