This E-band MMIC power detector converts millimeter-wave signals to voltages.
Suitable for E-band applications from 71 to 86 GHz, model HMC7447 is a monolithic-microwave-integrated-circuit (MMIC) power detector from Hittite Microwave Corp. which provides linear output voltages for input signals from -0.5 to +23.5 dBm. Ideal for communications and military systems, the compact power detector exhibits low insertion loss of 0.45 dB across its full frequency range, with typical input return loss of only 19.5 dB. With outstanding frequency response of ±0.2 dB from 71 to 86 GHz, the power detector is a good fit for monitoring transmitter operation or enabling closed-loop transmitter output power. It can be used with an operational amplifier (opamp) to achieve a slope of 20 mV/dB at the minimum detector input power level. The power detector is available in die format with input/output ports internally matched to 50 Ω.
