Connor-Winfield Corp. (Aurora, IL) announced the purchase of a manufacturing facility in Genoa, IL from AG Communication Systems (AGCS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Lucent Technologies. The newly acquired manufacturing assets will be merged with the company's Custom Manufacturing Services (CMS) Div. to create the new Advanced Global Manufacturing Services. The former CMS Div. boasts expertise in thick-film, wire and die bonding, and hybrid technologies, with customers in the military, instrumentation, telecommunications, and medical industries. Under AGCS ownership, the Genoa facility's operations had been certified for ISO-TS 16949 automotive compliance certification, an internationally recognized quality management system certification. Connor-Winfield plans to have the facility's operations recertified for ISO-TS 16949 as part of Connor-Winfield's strategic marketing plan to emphasize the automotive industry as a target market. According to Daniel Olp, General Manager of Connor-Winfield Corp., "recertifying the facility's operations for the ISO-TS 16949 quality management system certification will support us in offering the highest quality of manufacturing services to the automotive industry."
