With an OCXO-class frequency/temperature coefficient of 0.1 10-6, the TG-5500CA temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) vows to provide space and power savings in telecommunications-network equipment. The device's frequency/temperature coefficient of 0.1 10-6 holds over a temperature range of 0 to +70C. The oscillator offers output frequencies from 10 to 40 MHz with standard frequencies of 10, 13, 19.2, 20, and 26 MHz. It operates from supply voltages of 2.7 to 5.5 V (3.3 V nominal). At 26 MHz, it consumes as much as 4 mA with a 15-pF CMOS load. In terms of frequency, the oscillator ages at 0.5 10-6 for the first year and 3.0 10-6 over 20 years, which meets Stratum 3 requirements. The 7.0-x-5.0-mm TG-5500CA is equipped with a QMEMS crystal unit. In addition, its original structural design accounts for thermal conductivity while stabilizing the frequency/temperature coefficient and long-term aging characteristics. Samples of the new TG-5500CA oscillator are scheduled for availability in December.
