Crystal Sources Deliver Fixed Outputs To 500 MHz

Available for custom fixed frequencies from 5 to 500 MHz, model PLXO-100-XX series of low-noise phase-locked crystal oscillators from EM Research can be supplied in either a surface-mount package of only 0.9 x 0.9 x 0.15 in. or a connectorized package measuring only 1.5 x 2.0 x 0.6 in. The phase noise for both versions is exceptionally low. For a surface-mount source at 100 MHz and +7 dBm output power, the phase noise is -125 dBc/Hz offset 1 kHz from the carrier and -155 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. Spurious levels are -60 dBc with harmonics of -15 dBc. The surface-mount oscillator draws less than 125 mA from a +5-VDC supply. With connectors, and at +7 dBm and 100 MHz, the phase noise is -125 dBc/Hz offset 1 kHz from the carrier and -150 dBc/Hz offset 100 kHz from the carrier. Spurious levels are -80 dBc with harmonics of -20 dBc. This version is equipped with SMA connectors and draws less than 115 mA from a +12-VDC supply.
