EW/SIGINT System Captures 64 Channels

The HUGIN 304DF EW/SIGINT system developed by Novator can provide as many as 64 channels of coverage with direction-finding capabilities from the back of a vehicle.

When tracking large numbers of separate channels and events, the HUGIN 304DF system from Novator Solutions AB provides 64 channels for simultaneous monitoring and recording of wideband radio signals while operating from a moving vehicle. It's a mobile electronic-warfare (EW) and signal-intelligence (SIGINT) system capable of capturing communications signals with amplitude modulation (AM), frequency modulation (FM), and single-sideband (SSB) modulation. It works across a standard frequency range of 20 to 520 MHz with an option for coverage from 150 MHz to 6 GHz.

The system includes push-to-talk communications for in-vehicle communications. Unique channelizer technology provides simultaneous direction finding (DF) on multiple RF signals with 360-degree coverage even when operating from the back of a vehicle (see image above).

Henrik Ulfhielm, chief executive officer (CEO) of Novator Solutions, says, “Close collaboration with our key suppliers and partners allowed uis to deliver the first systems within six months from project kick-off.”

The system’s flexible receiver features four wideband tuners, each with 80-MHz instantaneous bandwidth. As an option, one of the tuners can be supplied with a frequency range extending to 6 GHz for monitoring purposes. The receiver is backed by intuitive command-and-control software. The mobile EW/SIGINT system is supplied in a rugged housing and can be deployed in any vehicle capable of supplying +12 V DC with a reference ground plane for the DF antenna.
