L3Harris Teams with Palantir for AI-Enhanced Sensor Systems

Dec. 3, 2024
The WESCAM MX-20 EO/IR imaging system from L3Harris was recently teamed with the AI-powered SIP from Palantir for improved reconnaissance and surveillance.

In a world rapidly racing to embrace artificial-intelligence (AI) technology, L3Harris Technologies is teaming with Palantir Technologies Inc. and the latter's Artificial Intelligence Platform (AIP) to extend the power of its military sensors. The combination of L3Harris’s sensor systems and Palantir’s AI technology is expected to enable warfighters to respond faster and more intelligently to complex battlefield situations.

The firms recently integrated L3Harris’ WESCAM MX-20 EO/IR imaging system for surveillance and reconnaissance (see image above) with Palantir’s Sensor Inference Platform (SIP) for improved target detection, target delineation, and situational awareness during a live flight test, including automatic target identification.

Christopher E. Kubasik, chairman andCEO of L3Harris, noted, “As the industry’s Trusted Disruptor, we are committed to collaborating with innovative partners to deliver unmatched value to our global customers.” Kubasik added, “Our work to date has demonstrated the meaningful impact of integrating our capabilities, and we will build upon these efforts to enhance performance across domains.”

Alex Karp, co-founder and CEO of Palantir, said, "We're partnering with L3Harris to ensure that the U.S. and its allies combine the West's two greatest assets—AI dominance and cutting-edge hardware—on the battlefield.”
