Ultralife recently launched the A-2303 compact, energy-efficient military amplifier targeting depot support applications. The 540 g (1.2 lb.), 20-W device, which delivers from ~0.75 to 5 W of RF power, is also compatible with low-power personal role radios used in military and industrial applications. Designed for easy integration into existing equipment and equipped with an RS-422 I/O for remote control and status reporting, the A-2303 has a frequency range from 30 to 512 MHz.
Claimed as the smallest and lightest RF amplifier available, the cost-effective amplifier offers a radio-agnostic design, user-replaceable connectors, and in-country repair support. Additional features include an optional auxiliary cooling accessory to reduce operating temperatures and prolong lifespan under extreme conditions.
The amplifier works with both legacy and new emerging radios, enabling higher gain, with an internal power supply for operation from 10 to 36 V DC. Also on tap is a broadband 30- to 512-MHz LNA, improved timing, higher power efficiency, and excellent thermal performance for both dismounted and vehicle applications.
System engineers and integrators can undertake in-country repair and calibration using documentation, instrumentation, and LabVIEW test routines. The A-2303 supports a broad range of input power, making it compatible with smaller, lighter batteries like those for the Land Warrior or conformal batteries manufactured by Ultralife’s Battery and Energy division.
