Aimed at direct-broadcast-satellite (DBS) and very-small-aperture- terminal (VSAT) system designers, the UPC3239TB is a medium-power silicon amplifier with generous broadband gain. The UPC3239TB requires a supply voltage of +3 to +3.6 VDC and typically draws 29 mA at +3.3 VDC. With gain of 25 dB from 100 MHz to 2.6 GHz, the UPC3239TB can be used as an intermediate- frequency (IF) amplifier in DBS low-noise-block (LNB) downconverters. The amplifier typically exhibits input and output return losses of 15 and 20 dB, respectively. At 1 GHz, it boasts a typical noise figure of 4 dB and +10 dBm output power at 1-dB compression. Second harmonics are -57 dBc at -15 dBm output power. Impedance matching is simplified by an input/output VSWR of less than 1.50:1. With proper blocking capacitors, the UPC3239TB can be operated at frequencies as low as 10 MHz. The amplifier also is well suited for RF gain blocks and high-isolation buffer amplifier applications. The UPC3239TB is manufactured using the UHS0 25-GHz fT silicon-germanium (SiGe) wafer process and housed in an SO-6-style package. P&A: $0.27 each in 10,000Q; stock.
