OSCILLATORS THAT TARGET portable applications must meet a unique set of demands in terms of size, power consumption, and more. For instance, the MXH series of ceramic SMD oscillators measure just 2 x 2.5 mm. They are available in a wide frequency range of 1.54 to 80 MHz. The oscillators operate at supply voltages of +/-1.6 VDC minimum. During full operation, maximum power consumption is as low as 8 mA. The oscillators boast a standby function that enables them to use a mere 30 mA. Operating temperature range is -40 to +85C. Frequency stability is as tight as +/-25 PPM. Maximum startup time is 10 ms while rise/fall time is 4 ns. The aging rate for these oscillators is +/-5 PPM for the first year. Waveform output is HCMOS-compatible and tri-state functionality comes standard. P&A: Prices start at $1.65 in 1K quantities; stock to 14 weeks.
