Filter fanatics will find a diverse assortment of high-frequency designs at the 2012 IMS booth of Delta Microwave (No. 722). Among its collection of displayed products is the model X1980 high-quality-factor (high-Q) TE111 dual-mode cylindrical cavity waveguide filter, designed for use on an X-band data link for a space observatory. It has a passband from 8.00 to 8.30 GHz with maximum passband insertion loss of 0.5 dB and maximum return loss of 20 dB. It rejects signals from 6.9 to 8.4 GHz and from 8.4 to 9.4 GHz by at least 40 dB. The waveguide filter can handle 11 W continuous-wave (CW) input power with a 6-dB margin (for peak power-handling capability of 44 W).
