Five New FPGA Boards for MIL/Aero Applications

March 11, 2020
Not all FPGA boards are made to meet the stringent environmental demands of MIL/Aero applications. Here's an assortment that fits the bill.

Within the military and aerospace industry, engineers have taken to field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) and systems-on-a-chip (SoCs) for a myriad of applications, including secure communications, security, RADAR, sensors, and plenty more. Combining both technologies in a single module allows for increased flexibility and integration into ever-changing, easily updated systems, but there are differences between industrial-grade and commercial FPGAs.

One of the most notable differences in the industrial-grade FPGAis their adherence to specific standards assuring that the modules can handle rough environments. They undergo rigorous lab simulation and testing before deployment to the vacuum of space aboard satellites. The following slideshow provides a sampling of the latest FPGA modules designed for the applications mentioned above and more.
