Microchip Technology was focusing on touch interfaces for the automotive space at this year's CES show. Ian Saturley, Senior Strategic Marketing Manager, demonstrated some of the company's technology on a demo platform (see figure).
Microchip has a range of capacitive touch controllers, touch-sensing libraries for most PIC, AVR, and SAM microcontrollers (MCUs), and single-chip solutions. The support includes everything from a single button push to capacitive technology using mechanical rotary knobs that can mount on displays, which could also incorporate touch sensing. In addition, chips and libraries are available that support multitouch and gestures.
