Mil/Aero Software Platform Secures Mission-Critical Comms

May 29, 2024
The advanced satcom system monitoring solution from Rohde & Schwarz helps armed forces maintain mission-critical communication links.

Developed to help armed forces maintain mission-critical communication links, Rohde & Schwarz's R&S GSACSM software suite ensures efficient and reliable communications for military satellite-communications (satcom) systems. Offering a solution for secure communication links, even in challenging operational environments, the R&S GSACSM provides early warning of potential communication failures to deliver uninterrupted and failure-free communication.

Features include classic spectrum-analyzer functions, 24/7 trapping systems, advanced signal detection, and signal analysis and classification, bringing reliable monitoring of communication quality and identification of operational impairments. The R&S GSACSM provides an interface for communicating with remote spectrum analyzers via remote connections and supports monitoring of signals for one device at a time or for many different devices at once. Able to handle different users monitoring the same device, it can also function as a a standalone application and a server/ client solution.

The R&S GSACSM autonomously scans and evaluates signals continuously to detect carriers with detailed information, such as baud rate, modulation scheme, FEC rate, C/N, and carrier frequency offset. It can also track and identify unwanted services as well as perform carrier-in-carrier detection tasks such as paired carrier multiple access detection and signal identification plus under-carrier signal analysis to find unwanted interferers.

The platform addresses the challenges of non-standardized satcom systems and the growing amount of interference from agents and issues like jamming, incorrect frequency and/or alignment of antenna systems, and natural and environmental interferences. Furthermore, it provides automatic configuration and error-detection capabilities to help armed forces maintain reliable and secure communication links.
