The new GuardLink 2.0 Ethernet/IP module from Rockwell Automation comes outfitted with Allen‑Bradley’s 432ES GuardLink EtherNet/IP On-Machine Interface. The module can also be combined with the company’s GuardLink Relay and EtherNet/IP Interface. The GuardLink 2.0 protocol provides safety-rated control device status and automatic diagnostic reporting to an HMI using CIP Safety (integrated safety services) over EtherNet/IP.

According to Rockwell, the 432ES GuardLink EtherNet/IP interface lets users connect up to 96 safety devices via three independent safety channels. Moreover, it can cascade power to additional interfaces and keep track of the timing and frequency of events to increase maintenance and provide process efficiencies.

The interface also supports linear, star, and device-level-ring (DLR) topologies while meeting safety ratings up to SIL 3, Cat 4 PLe. Additional features include monitoring up to 32 devices per channel and control of up to three machine zones, three independent channels, and more. The 432ES presents safety-based applications to a wide variety of industries, including food and beverage, automotive, semiconductors, material handling and more.
