10-Slot, 3U Dev Chassis Supports OpenVPX, SOSA Designs

April 5, 2021
The chassis supports 40-GbE and PCIe Gen3 signals with optional backplane speeds of up to 100 GbE or more. Other features include removable sidewalls and power-supply options.

Development chassis represent a great means for engineers to get a new system configuration up and running quickly and in their desired end form factor. Pixus Technologies’ latest 10-slot, 3U OpenVPX enclosure system is geared for SOSA (Sensor Open Standard Architecture) requirements.

The new chassis platform features removable sidewalls, allowing the open-frame enclosure to be fully enclosed if the user desires. The 10-slot backplane has clocking and VITA 46.11 system management connections per SOSA requirements. It has multiple VITA 67.3c and VITA 67.3d cutouts for RF interfaces through the backplane for 3U OpenVPX boards. The speed of the backplane supports 40-GbE and PCIe Gen3 signals with high-grade PCB material and back-drilling. Pixus can also support backplane design speeds to 100 GbE and beyond. Other design options for the development chassis include a switch to go from Pixus’ modular fixed power supply to a VITA 62 power supply and card guides for conduction-cooled boards.

With its vast array of OpenVPX backplane and chassis platforms designed for SOSA implementations, Pixus Technologies’ offerings allow customers to find a standard configuration with short lead-times and reduced costs. The company offers OpenVPX backplane/chassis systems in commercial, development, and MIL rugged formats. The company also provides IEEE and Eurocard components for the embedded computer market.
