Rohde & Schwarz upgraded its R&S SMW200A vector signal generator (VSG) and its midrange counterpart, the R&S SMM100A, bringing significant enhancements to error-vector-magnitude (EVM) performance. Well-suited for both 5G NR FR3 research and high-demand RF applications like power amplifier testing, the R&S SMW200A now has a RF linearization software option using digital pre-distortion to optimize EVM at high output power; the R&S SMM100A was also upgraded with improved EVM capabilities.
In addition to a redesigned front panel and user interface, the R&S SMW200A now has modified microwave hardware for greater EVM performance. It also boasts higher output power in the frequency range above 20 GHz to address the demands of 5G NR FR2 research and RF component and module testing. Rhe R&S SMW-K575 RF linearization software option helps ensure high accuracy and stability, even for complex modulation schemes.
The R&S SMM100A has a new low phase noise option as well—the R&S SMM B709—to provide, for example, EVM performance that's better than –53 dB for an IEEE802.11be signal with a bandwidth of 320 MHz. Those who already have previous versions of the SMW200A or SMM100A can also get the new performance enhancements, as the company also offers retrofit options through a service and calibration process.
