Feb. 11, 2025
Elma’s robust SOSA-aligned backplane with a VITA 62 PSU slot enables high-speed signals on all data paths.

Elma Electronic upgraded its line of SOSA-aligned backplanes with a seven-slot 3U OpenVPX model supporting the DoD’s Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) mandate. Providing six VITA 65 slots and one VITA 62 PSU slot, the backplane eases the development of a common architecture across critical C5ISR and EW systems. The backplanes address mission, weapons, or navigation control; surveillance; as well as threat detection and processes or environmental monitoring appllications.

Features include three payload slots with PNT support across all slots. All control and data-plane links handle 25-Gb/s data rates for high-speed signaling on all data paths with dual-domain Ethernet support up to 100GBASE-KR4. VITA 66 and VITA 67 connector modules can be installed in the backplane apertures upon request.

Also available is support for a number of critical features, such as a radial slot card for precision timing and synchronization, VITA 48.2 2-Level Maintenance (2LM), and VITA 62 PSU isolation fins for high-altitude applications.
